I always respect a good book recommendation.

These two coming from Jeff Bullas, (entrepreneur, blogger, author, marketer and speaker) who I met recently at MediaSocial.

The first is “Platform: Get noticed in a noisy world” by Michael Hyatt. Jeff reckons it’s a top read – all about harnessing the power and opportunity of social media by building your own virtual stage. Michael outlines what best-selling authors, public speakers, entrepreneurs, musicians, and other creatives are doing differently to win customers in today’s crowded marketplace.

The second is “Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World” by Cal Newport. Jeff was raving about this one. It outlines how people need to focus on tasks and go deep into mastery without distraction. I have a theory that we are becoming ‘generation light’. Skimming across information and content without diving deep. So I can’t wait to delve into Cal’s book.

I’ll let you know what I think after I’ve read them. Love to hear your views if you have too.

Or have you read other interesting books lately?

By the way, has anyone read the book behind the businessman, Ray Croc, who helped the McDonald’s Brothers expand their food-service franchise model?  Called “Grinding It Out“. Check it out here
